Industrial filtration in Marseille, Fos-sur-Mer and around the Étang de Berre

F.E.A International has been based in Marseille since it was founded in 1998, in the eleventh arrondissement. The industrial complex extending west of the city is the ground on which the company has practised its trade from the start.

The industrial fabric of the area

The port and industrial zone of Fos-sur-Mer and the area around the Étang de Berre concentrate activities that consume filter elements continuously: refining, petrochemicals, bulk chemicals, steelmaking, industrial gas production, port logistics and liquefied gas terminals. The communes of Fos-sur-Mer, Lavéra, Berre-l’Étang, Martigues, Port-de-Bouc and Rognac mark out its perimeter.

These are installations falling under the French classified installations regime, some of them subject to the provisions applying to establishments presenting a major-accident hazard. They filter process liquids, gases, cooling water, lube oils and hydraulic circuits, and they treat the air of their technical buildings — the whole set of streams described in our sector pages.

The port of Marseille-Fos and the logistics platforms around it add a fleet of handling machinery, whose engine, hydraulic and fuel filtration belongs to the same trade.

What being close by actually changes

Three things, and we put them as possibilities rather than commitments — the company has one to two people, and promising a systematic field presence would be a claim we could not keep.

Seeing a part in hand rather than in a photograph. An element whose marking has worn away reads better when its dimensions can be measured, its medium felt and its mounting end examined. When the part can travel, identification is quicker and safer.

Recording a dimension on site when a custom-built element is being prepared: a made-to-drawing element starts from a measurement, and a measurement taken on the installation beats a measurement passed along.

Collecting an element to be identified without shipping it, which matters when an installation is waiting.

Our address, our opening hours and directions are on the contact page.
