Filtration by sector
Industry sectors
Filtration constraints are not alike from one process to the next. Five sectors, and what each one really asks of a filter element.
Oil and gas
On an oil or gas site, filtration rarely protects a product: it protects a rotating machine, a catalyst bed, a heat exchanger, and the continuity of a production run whose unplanned stoppage is very expensive.

Mining
This is the sector where filtration is decided first on the machines: an engine breathing siliceous dust and a hydraulic circuit working in abrasive conditions wear at a rate that only filtration quality governs.

Nuclear
In a nuclear installation, ventilation is not a comfort: it is a containment function. The filter element is a safety component there, and its real performance is lost at installation as much as it is gained in the medium.

Petrochemicals
A petrochemical site filters to protect a continuous process: the same installation runs for months without stopping, and a badly chosen element does not show on the first day but at the first vessel opening.

Chemicals
In chemicals, choosing a medium is not a matter of setting a fineness: it is first a question of compatibility. A perfectly sized element in a material that cannot hold the medium contaminates the very product it was meant to clarify.
