Woven and knitted metal mesh

Woven cloths and knitted mesh in stainless steel, zinc-plated steel, brass and bronze.

Metal cloth is characterised by its mesh, weave and wire diameter, which together set the actual aperture and the open area. It is cut, welded and formed to suit the existing media holder.

Screening: what the mesh lets through

The drawing gives the direction of flow and where retention happens. It carries no scale and no value.
  1. Arrival — the mixture reaches the upstream face of the cloth, all sizes together.
  2. Mesh aperture — it is the weave, not the thickness of the medium, that decides what passes. The dimension is shown without a value: it is read on the data sheet, never on a drawing.
  3. Surface retention — whatever is larger than the aperture stays on the upstream face, without entering the thickness.
  4. Passage — whatever is smaller than the aperture goes through and carries on.

Retention happens at the surface, not within the thickness: that is what lets the deposit release on washing, where a felt keeps it inside its depth.

Values read from the documents cited

Each value is read from the document its mark refers to. It places the family; it does not describe its full extent. Where the family has published sheets, what those sheets actually carry is stated under the value.

Product sheets under verification

This family's characteristics are published above, with their source. Each product sheet is published once every one of its values has been checked against the manufacturer's documentation. Describe your requirement: we will identify the exact reference.
